Course Management Strategies. Part 1The fastest way to lower your scores
The average golfer wastes 5-7 shots per round simply due to poor course management. There are simple rules to course management that all players can implement instantly to lower their scores. The biggest hurdle is being disciplined enough to stick to your strategy when on the golf course. PGA Tour professionals hit less than 5 perfect shots per round. Why does the average golfer get so frustrated and stray away from their game plan when they hit one bad shot? Be disciplined! Manage the course like the pro’s PGA Tour caddies get to tour events early in order to map the golf course on a blank yardage book. The typical golf course has yardage books for sale in the golf course, but they are either; 1. Too complicated, or 2. Too generic. The best players in the world are making their own notes to detail specific spots on the golf course. Why course management is important Most people acknowledge the fact that course management is important because it increases your odds of shooting a better score. The biggest factor of smart course management is that it gives you confidence and trust once you know where the safe landing zone is. If you are just pulling the driver because you are on a long par 5, you are most likely going to create anxiety sub consciously because you have not processed what the safe target is, the distance to that target, which creates comfort and leads to a more aggressive, confident golf swing.
